Our Consortium

Our consortium involves some of the UK’s leading research-intensive universities. Uniquely, we are able to combine expertise in nuclear physics at the University of Edinburgh, University of Surrey and University of York with expertise in nuclear engineering at the University of Cambridge and Lancaster University. This will allow us to cover a broad spectrum of research activity in applied nuclear physics, engineering and technology with PhD projects supervised by internationally-regarded experts.

While PhD students will be based in one of the five partners for their PhD, during their first year, they will visit the other four university partners as part of their initial training programme. In this way, they will have the chance to visit some of the most popular cities for tourism in the UK: Cambridge, Edinburgh and York. At University of Surrey, they will be within easy reach of London and at Lancaster University,  the Lake District is on their doorstep.
